Under the supervision of the Pool Manager, the Head Lifeguard enforces the safety regulations for the protection of pool patrons; makes suggestions for new or updated regulations; assists in general maintenance, and performs other duties as assigned by the Pool Manager.
Essential Duties*
Assists Pool Manager with programs at the facility, including but not limited to recreational swimming, swim lessons, and other pool programs and events.
Makes sound decisions on situations that may occur and reports to the Pool Manager.
Prepares the pools and surrounding areas for approved programs and performs general maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
Attends staff and department employee training meetings as necessary.
Works weekends as assigned and attends a minimum of 2 in-services during the summer season.
Attends unpaid certification or recertification programs as needed to meet the minimum requirements for employment.
Provides the most adequate safety protection for patrons.
Assists in maintaining a daily record of maintenance, pH, and chlorine readings in addition to filing incident and accident reports.
Assists in rendering first aid according to the standards established by the American Red Cross.
Participates in daily routine maintenance and cleanliness of facility.
Remains prepared to make water rescues in instances when it becomes necessary.
Reports all unusual situations, incidents, and accidents to the Pool Manager.
Attends all staff meetings and in-services as scheduled by Pool Manager or Parks and Recreation Supervisors.
