Position Overview
The Membership Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and supporting Chamber member services, events, and engagement initiatives. This role plays a key part in membership recruitment, retention, communications, invoicing, and event coordination while maintaining accurate membership records and supporting Chamber programs and committees.
 

About the Chamber
Established in 1916, the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) non-profit, member supported organization dedicated to promoting a collaborative and positive business climate for our community. The Chamber is the catalyst of growth as it provides a central hub for business advocacy, community engagement, and economic development. The Chamber works closely with local leaders, member businesses, and civic partners to offer and foster networking, events, and programs.

Member Recruitment & Retention
•    Oversee the membership department and its initiatives to expand the Chamber’s reach and impact.
•    Must be able to explain what the Chamber does for its members/perks of membership.
•    Cultivate strong, ongoing relationships with existing members to ensure satisfaction and engagement.
•    Actively recruit new members through outreach, networking, and community involvement.
•    Support existing members by managing benefits, responding to needs, and ensuring they receive full value from their membership.
•    Build and maintain relationships with specific member businesses to strengthen long‑term partnerships.

Community & Public Engagement
•    Represent the Chamber professionally through public speaking, networking, and community involvement while serving as a public face of the Chamber at local and regional events.
•    Listen and respond to the needs of members, business owners, and community stakeholders.

Communication & Outreach
•    Communicate effectively through newsletters, social media, press relations, and public presentations.
•    Manage promotional efforts and member outreach using social media platforms and digital tools.
•    Organize and promote Chamber events such as mixers, workshops, ribbon cuttings, and networking opportunities.
 
Data & Administrative Management
•    Maintain and update the membership database with accuracy and attention to detail.
•    Track membership activity and provide reports to Chamber leadership.
•    Compile quantifiable data for benchmarking, outreach metrics, engagement trends, and create an efficient, precise system to track event attendance.
•    Utilize Chamber software and tools (QuickBooks, Constant Contact, Wix) to track membership, volunteers, communications, and conduct all invoicing.

Qualifications
•    High school diploma or GED, plus two (2) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
•    Comfortable with public speaking and representing the Chamber in professional settings.
•    Proficiency with social media platforms and basic office software.
•    Highly organized, self‑motivated, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Experience in customer service, sales, community engagement, or membership‑based organizations preferred.

Salary & Benefits
•    Starting salary is $18+ an hour, negotiable based on qualifications.
•    Travel stipend or mileage reimbursement provided.
•    Grimes County observed holidays and paid time off.

Work Environment
•    Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude for initiative. The position relies on experience and independent judgment to determine the best approach using and interpreting policies and procedures.
•    This position requires occasional evening or weekend work and required travel throughout the year to support events, training, and programs.
•    50/50-time split is spent in a typical office setting, preforming regular office functions and time spent off-site completing tasks engaging with current and prospective members.
